about

Written by Samantha Crain

I wrote this song as a mantra to myself to keep the wheels turning and life moving even through the times of weakening quicksand. I can’t always keep momentum and joy. I’m not always my best self….and that’s fine...but I wanted to write something to remind myself in those times of slow-down and of stuckness to try and find at least a little purpose for myself, even if it’s something really small like cooking a meal or watching a great movie. I don’t want to be too hard on myself when I’m resting but, at the same time, I want to be in touch with myself enough to give myself little tiny pep talks here and there to just gently remind myself that this is my one life I’m getting to live.

lyrics

Do you think you’re making your own magic when you kill someone elses?
It takes a million years to make that hill smooth as a bell
It’s hard to find the source of such a dull pain
And so the sighs turn long, You’re quiet as a bone

It might take 4 days for them to find me, my dog would lick my face
I hate the thought of people at my funeral with yearbook cliches
I’ve spent a long, long time in my navigating head
I know the careful mind is such a mountain

Pick apart every hour of every day you wanna see
Your life’s in there
Pick apart every hour of every day you wanna see
Your life’s in there

Do you find you’re spending your time locked inside a panic room you made
Every mislaid waking hour and ratty braid curled up and so afraid
You never lost a thing, only found some others
I know the sighs get long, You’re quiet as a bone

Pick apart every hour of every day you wanna see
Your life’s in there
Pick apart every hour of every day you wanna see
Your life’s in there
Pick apart every second of every minute of every hour of every day
Your life’s in there
